OUR STORY
I started sailing in Germany when I was five years old and have spent much of my life on sailboats big and small, out on the open oceans and in marinas around the world.
I was a sailing instructor, administrator, and examiner at Europe's largest and oldest sailing school in Northern Germany.
I taught sailing and worked on boats for 21 years before moving to Long Beach, California in 1993.
I sailed many many miles in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean & the Mediterranean Sea.
I sailed in the Pacific Ocean on friends' boats and chartered vessels until I bought my own boat, which is currently docked at the Alamitos Bay Marina in Long Beach.
Spending time at the docks, I began to notice many boats that looked like they could use some Tender Loving Care - boats that were vandalized, abandoned, covered in bird sh*t, boats with rusty or loose standard rigging, boats with a lot of growth on the hull, boats with fading, tired paint, etc. I figured these boat owners could benefit from a simple way to check in on their boat remotely, especially if they have busy schedules or live far away from their marina.
The final push to start this service came when MY OWN BOAT was burglarized.
Since I live near my boat and am generally able to visit it frequently, I noticed it soon after it happened, so I was able to properly secure other items and parts of the boat that could be subject to further theft or vandalism.
My keeping of current pictures & videos of my vessel made the entire INSURANCE PROCESS a whole lot easier!
This was when I knew that boat owners would definitely benefit from this service - so they can ensure the security of their boat on a more consistent basis than they are able to make it in person.
